Italy, the QE2, large casinos and more …

Aside from Rooff’s potentially pyhrric compulsory purchase order victory at appeal, which I wrote about earlier today, there are two other breaking Olympic news stories of note today.

Firstly, the Italian National Olympic Committe will I am told announce in Rome tomorrow that it will be housed in the Queen Elizabeth II Conference centre during the 2012 Games.

The Standard has broken the story here.

Separately, City & Eastern has officially launched a legal challenge to Newham’s decision to pick Westfield/Aspers to house the UK’s first “large” casino at the Stratford City site opposite the Olympic Park.

Expect this story to run and run.
